The Bronx

Today I went to the Bronx together with my agent, actually she took me there because she lives in this area. We had lunch in a Greek diner and the owner told us that business has never been so slow, the last 4 years have been bad, inflation, of course is one of the reason. People have stopped going out because they cannot afford, he said, a greek salad now costs US dollars 15.90, it is a lot considering what it is. But he cannot lower the price because everything is so expensive even at wholesale prices.

He will vote for Trump he said, even if he has been a democrat before. The economy was better during Trump. Plus there were no wars; he, being Greek, follows what is happening in Europe and was against the war in Ukraine. We did not discuss the situation in Palestine but he agrees with Trump that these wars have to end. Money should be spent to help the middle class, the lower middle class and the working class, these are, or were his clients.

And money should be spent to help small businesses like his, so many have closed down because they could not survive the economic crisis and inflation.

The Bronx is leaning towards Trump, I took the picture of the car with TRUMP written on the back in front of a house near the Greek diner, but in New York the democrats will win, this is what everybody thinks.

I got the feeling that many people in the Bronx are switching from democrats to republicans, people who are feeling left out, forgotten by the former.
